Andrej Pešta, a prominent Romani figure, found inspiration in his immediate surroundings as an amateur photographer. This documentary collection of nearly one hundred photographs from the 1950s to the 1980s is accompanied by detailed captions.
The book includes a text by photography theoretician Tomáš Pospěch. In the book’s introduction, historian and museologist Jana Horváthová reflects on the photographs and, in particular, on her personal experience with their creator. The status and development of the collection of Pešta’s photographs in the collections of the Museum of Romani Culture is described by curator Adam Holubovský, and in the final section of the book, the reader will find two texts discussing the figure of Andrej Pešta, written by historian Dušan Slaček and Romani studies scholar Milada Závodská, as well as a summary of the profile of Andrej Pešta in the Romani language. The book was published in a Czech-English edition and also includes a profile of Andrej Pešta in the Romani language.
