Jan Čumlivski (1978) is a graphic designer, illustrator, type designer, editor, and writer. He first studied Hungarian philology and cultural studies at Charles University, then animation and typography at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, where he now teaches. He is part of the creative team behind the small-publishers’ festival Tabook based in Tábor and the editor of Baedeker, the festival's guide.
Together with Juraj Horváth, he designed the short-story collections Všude samá krása (Nothing But Beauty Everywhere) and Samet blues (Velvet Blues) for the Kher publishing house, as well as Květoslava Podhradská's Povídání u povidel / O vakeriben paš o lekvaris (Zlatá stuha, 3rd place in the Most Beautiful Book of the Year competition), Gary G. Steele's Čhávata z manéže (3rd place in the Most Beautiful Book of the Year competition), Tulák / Čavargoš by Tery Fabiánová, Májky a totemy by Michal Šamko (30 Best Books for Children and Young Adults), Jan Hauer's book Moji lidi, the two parts of Kiba Lumberg's trilogy Černý motýl and Potrhaná křídla, and Martin Kanaloš's debut Já, Tran a všechno ostatní, etc.
