Horváthová, Jana

Jana Horváthová graduated from history and museology at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University in Brno. She has worked for instance as a lecturer at the Brno City Museum or a secretary for culture and education of the Roma Civic Initiative. Together with her father, activist Karel Holomek, and others, she participated on the development and establishment of the Museum of Romani Culture in 1991 and has been its director since 2003. In 1999, she also worked as a dramaturge for Czech TV-Brno, among other things on the documentary series Children of the Moment. From 2002 to 2005, she was a member of the Government Council for National Minorities, and from 2001 to 2004, she was a member of the Scientific Council of Masaryk University.

She has published works such as Kapitoly z dějin Romů (Chapters from the History of the Roma, Lidové noviny Publishing House, 2002), Devleskere čhave: svedectvom starých pohľadníc (God’s Children: History in Old Postcards, Vydavateľstvo Regionu Poprad, 2006), ...to jsou těžké vzpomínky (…Those Are Difficult Memories, Větrné mlýny, 2021).
