Věra Horváthová Duždová spent her childhood in Lenešice near Louny and now lives in Prague. She studied at the New Media I studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, completed a one-year course at FAMU International, and subsequently did an internship at the Department of Documentary Film. She has worked at MF Dnes, as a croupier, curator, and project manager and mentor at non-profit organizations. She participated in the creation of the internet news service Hiri of Romea TV and worked as curator for the Phundrado vudar (Open Doors) gallery of the Ara Art organization. She is best known as a visual artist and has exhibited her work in Graz, Berlin and Strasbourg, and Prague's Containall, DOX, and Artivist Lab galleries. She was a resident at MeetFactory with the full support of the Display curatorial team and mentoring from Robert Gabris. She is a member of the artistic activist group Romane Kale Panthera.
She has been publishing since 2014, debuting in the e-anthology Moji milí (My Dears, Kher, 2014). Among her short stories in print rank e.g. “Její sametová” / “Her Velvet Revolution” (in the anthology of twenty Romani writers Všude samá krása / Nothing But Beauty Everywhere, Kher, 2021), “Devadesátkou”/ ”Ninety” (in the anthology of twelve Romani writers Samet blues / Velvet Blues, Kher, 2021) and “Angel” (Roma-studies journal Romano džaniben 1/2019). She presented her short story “Čas bytí” / “Time of Being” at a public reading at the TaBook 2020 festival. Between 2022-2023 she wrote an intermittent column for H7O, an online platform of the literary magazine Host. In 2023, her short story “Svatby noc” / “The Wedding Night” was published in the literary supplement of Respekt weekly and then re-published in Fameľija nadevše / Family Above All Else (Slovo 21 2024). She writes in Czech.
